Youth Emergency Housing Crisis Response Plan
KARANGA MAI TĀMAKI
Mā Te Huruhuru and Manaaki Rangatahi are urgently calling for a regional hui to SAVE OUR HOMELESS TAITAMARIKI in Tāmaki. The crisis we are facing is dire, and we can no longer stand by as our taitamariki are left without a safe place to call home. Homelessness in Tāmaki has risen by an alarming 65% in just the last 4 months. This is a crisis that affects us all, and it’s happening right now, in our own backyard.
Venue: Lifeskills, 59 Tidal Road, Māngere
Time: 9am – 2pm
Date: 28 March 2025
Bring: A plate of kai to share
Facilitated by: Kaye Maree Dunn, MEA
This is not just another meeting – it’s a call to action! We cannot afford to delay. Our tamariki are suffering, and we must take immediate steps to address this crisis. This hui is our chance to come together and create an "Emergency Housing Crisis Response Plan" that will provide real, actionable solutions for the youth of Tāmaki.
We need YOU to show up. This is a community-wide emergency, and if we don’t act now, things will only get worse.
If not now, then when?
If not you, then who?
The time is NOW, Tāmaki.
If we don’t unite in this moment, who will? Our tamariki need us, and the responsibility is on us to make a difference.
A massive mihi to Lifeskills for allowing us to use their space for this crucial hui.
Please share, spread the word, and show up. Together, we are the solution.

Systems Prevention of Youth Homelessness HERE
This report is one of a six-part series on youth homelessness prevention, drawing from The Roadmap for the Prevention of Youth Homelessness (Gaetz et al., 2018). The Roadmap is designed

Yukon Territorial Youth Strategy 2024 HERE
The Territorial Youth Strategy (TYS) is a collaborative effort between many
diverse stakeholders throughout the Yukon including young people, youthserving organizations, businesses, community members, and all levels of
government. The TYS has evolved from many years of collaborations between
these groups. We invite all groups interested in supporting Yukon youth to join
the collaborative effort and ask that groups consider what role they might play in
the TYS. The TYS draws inspiration from the 7 generations concept and the
Changing the Story to Upholding Dignity and Justice: Yukon’s Missing and
Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-spirit+ People Strategy (Yukon
Advisory Committee, 2020), and with permission has used the process and
product of that strategy as a guide.
