OUR MODEL
PORORWHITA MĀIA
At Mā Te Huruhuru, we use the Porowhita Māia model, also known as the Circle of Courage, because it provides a holistic framework that aligns with our values. This model is the consistent thread weaved into every programme design.

POROWHITA MĀIA MODEL
This model emphasises four core principles: Belonging, Mastery, Independence, and Generosity. These principles are integral to creating an environment where students feel empowered.
Belonging ensures taitamariki feel a sense of belonging and connection, crucial for their emotional well-being and engagement. Mastery focuses on taitamariki achieving their full potential through the development of skills and knowledge. Creating a sense of competence and confidence. Independence encourages taitamariki to take responsibility for their own learning and actions, promoting self-discipline and autonomy. Generosity instills the importance of contributing to the well-being of others, nurturing empathy and social responsibility.
